ENTERTAINMENT DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT

 

The RPF Entertainment Department exists to create an unmatched experience for our audience using interaction, spectacle, music, variety theatre and history. It is our goal for this experience to be so impactful and so unique that our audience can't help but return, and that their enthusiastic word-of-mouth will attract a new and larger audience.

ORIENTATION

Apprentices (those who are joining our cast for the first time) should report to the Orientation Meeting/Workshops on Saturday, March 10, 2010 at 9:00 AM. at the Faire Site.

 

REGISTRATION

Keep in touch with your Guildmaster or Director as to the registration process for the 2010 season as it may be changing.

  1. You will receive a Workshop Schedule, a form called a "Reckoning Card", and a copy of "The Elizabethan Language Book".
  2. Using the schedule, you will determine which RAPA workshops you will attend. Note: Check with your Director or Guildmaster for guild or troupe specific workshop requirements. Your Guildmaster or Director may have specific or additional workshop requirements.
  3. Your Workshop Instructors will stamp or sign your Reckoning Card to indicate completion or each workshop. You will submit this form to the ENT office when it is complete.
  4. Go online and register!

Additional registration forms will be available at the Orientation meetings.

 

WORKSHOPS & REHEARSALS

In preparation for performance at the Faire, you will need to complete a minimum number of hours participating in: (a) RAPA assigned workshops, (b) workshops provided by directors of guilds, troupes, or shows, and (c) rehearsal and production sessions.

 

  • Individual RAPA workshops (i.e. Language, Theatre Games, Costuming, etc.) are each approximately 1 hour in length.
  • Director workshops, rehearsals, and production sessions vary according to the Guild or Troupe in which you're cast. You will be given your own Workshop Schedule and instructions at Registration.
  • Your requirements will depend on your experience with us.
    • * Apprentices (first year) - No fewer than 12 hours of Workshops/Rehearsals/Production

      * Journeymen (1 - 9 seasons) - No fewer than 6 hours of Workshops/Rehearsals/Production

      * Masters (10 or more seasons) - No fewer than 3 hours of Workshops/Rehearsals/Production

 

Important - These are minimum standards. Your Director may assign additional time and require you take specific classes. Most cast members spend additional time preparing for the Faire. Please note that requirements and availability of workshops are always subject to change.

 

The RAPA workshop schedules are now available as PDF files. You may wish to download a schedule prior to March 7 in order to plan which classes you will be attending. Pre-registration for workshops is not required.

RECKONING CARD

Your Reckoning Card is complete only when it bears the following verification:

  1. All workshop leader stamps or signatures,
  2. Costume Approval stamp or signature,
  3. Guildmaster or Director stamp or signature.

Note: Costume Approval is available every Workshop day. Check with your Guildmaster or Director for the style of costume required for your particular group. Please review any Costuming information on this web site.

Submit your Reckoning Card to ENT when it is complete. If all is in order, the Registrar will authorize you to receive a Photo ID Gate Pass from the Event Services Department (ES).

 

PHOTO ID

Your Photo ID Gate Passes / Stickers will generally be available for pick-up from Event Services once you have completed your workshops and have your director's signature and have passed costume approval.

  • Photos taken on Dress Rehearsal will be available on Opening Day.
  • If you do not complete the process for a Photo ID Gate pass by Dress Rehearsal, please contact your Guildmaster or Director so that you may be temporarily gate listed for entry.

When receiving your Gate Pass, you may receive a Parking Pass if you request one.

 

COMPENSATION

RAPA is an educational and recreational program to explore theater and living history. Participation is conducted primarily on a volunteer basis. There are few paid positions for performers. However, as a performer you will gain valuable skills and experience in a fun and richly creative environment.

 

FEES

Workshops are presented free of charge. There is a $20 replacement fee for lost passes after they have been issued.

 

PARTICIPATION & CONDUCT

All RAPA enrollees are expected to actively and diligently participate in workshops and rehearsals as required. They are also expected to conduct themselves in a professional and cooperative manner and to follow and support all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of RAPA and the Faire as well as all federal, state, and local laws. Violations may result in revocation of any privilege to attend workshops, perform, or participate.
